Large system size on Note 5

I ran out of space, cleaned all caches and found to my surprise that the System still used 18Gb. (See screenshot.)
Is this normal for Android 11 and should I start pruning the library or is this rather large? If large, how can I reduce it?

Lies, damned lies and statistics.
They don't make it easy to see what's going on.
My Poke3 has 7.1 GB "System", my Poke5 11 GB, my phone 16 GB.

Let's do some math.
My Poke5 has 31,331,450,880 bytes flash.
The userdata partition has 48,037,599 blocks.
That's 24,595,250,688 bytes where you can store books.
So, all the places you can't store books is 6,736,200,192 bytes.
My Poke5 has 76 non-userdata partitions that make up this 6.7 GB.
So how do we get from 6.7 GB to 11 GB?
Apparently they are counting 4.3 GB of system-related things stored in the userdata partition.
What? I dunno. Stuff like vendor, apex, odex, vdex...

Hey, Renate.

Yes, I saw while wiping caches that the userdata-partition>android>data directory is used. It apparently. has data from apps, both from system and user installed apps.

However, it still has to add up to 64GB, doesn't it. Your Poke5 has 31,3 GB. So it does add up. Even though some data is placed on the userdata-partition.

After upgrading to 3.5.3 it has even grown to 17GB!

Aside: It has gotten quite ugly with the new icons. Is there a way to switch back?

Code:
BOOX:/ $ df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
tmpfs 1857692 1240 1856452 1% /dev

Doesn't seem to count up to 64GB

But not all the dm-partitions are reported with df

That looks like ~10.6 GB in system partitions and 6.4 GB in userdata for 17 GB.
With A/B you've got a lot of inactive partitions that goes into that 10.6 GB.
