This plugin won't work unless your Kindle is jailbroken.

Kindle Collections Customisations have disappeared
I've been using Kindle Collections for years with one unchanged set of customisations. I came to run KC today & all the customisations have disappeared.
The last time I ran KC was on 23 Aug 24. The only recent change to my system has been to update Calibre to 7.17 on 29 Aug 24. However I update Calibre every few releases, and have never had an issue with KC before. No plug-in updates for KC are indicated either. I can recreate the customisations from my own notes, but I'd like to know what's caused them to disappear in the first place. ETA - I've recreated the customisations, and then ran the plug-in. Now, while the file "kindle_collections_path_cache.calibre" updates, the changes are not pulled through to the Kindle (I use LibrarianSync, which has worked perfectly for years). I've uninstalled and re-installed the plug-in (ver 1.7.29). Doesn't make any difference. Any theories about what's going on would be very welcome. Last edited by Georgie W; 09-08-2024 at 10:10 PM. invalid mobi header warning
no matter how many times i convert/reconvert/restart my kindle etc, i without fail get the same invalid mobi header warning.
i'm on calibre version 7.24.0 and my kindle is on 5.17.1.0.3 === Kindle Collections 1.7.29 PREVIEW Report Preview only - no collections have actually been modified on the Kindle. Warnings: These files contain invalid Mobi book header information and will be ignored by the Kindle. Try using Calibre to reconvert the book to Mobi format (even if you need to convert from Mobi format) and resending it to the device. please help, i am about to walk outside and start banging my head against the brick wall ![]() |

Does this Plugin need an update for Kindle PW 2024?
The "new" PW uses MTP to connect to PC and is not recognized by the Plugin. Calibre however works as expected. Am I holding it wrong?^^ |

Issues with QT6 patch – any suggestions?
Hi everyone, I’m trying to organise collections on my jailbroken KOA3 (FW 5.14.1) using Calibre 7.26.0 [running on macOS Ventura 13.6.3], the Kindle Collection plugin (1.7.29) & LibrarianSync – and have run into an issue I'm really hoping someone can help me with.
I want to use the "Edit Collections manually..." option of the Kindle Collections plug-in. If I understand correctly a QT6 patch is required, so I've edited the plug-in's utilities.py file as per dmeyer0's instructions [post #430] and rezipped the folder etc. Unfortunately after patching & rezipping, the plug-in was no longer installed as far as Calibre was concerned. So I tried "Load plugin from file” but that failed, with the following message: ERROR: Unhandled exception: InvalidPlugin:The plugin in '/Users/.../Kindle Collections.zip' is invalid. It does not contain a top-level __init__.py file I unzipped the plugin to check the files, and yes, the __init__.py file was definitely still there. Just in case the problem was the compression utility I was using, I did try several different tools to rezip the folder, but always got the same error message. Finally a friend figured out how to use the calibre-customize command line tool with the build-plugin option to zip and update the plugin successfully. However, when I now try using the plugin to edit collections manually, I get the following error: Spoiler:
What's confusing is that in both the utilities.py file, & the trace log above, 'ItemFlags' doesn't exist. I've double checked, & have definitely replaced Qt.ItemFlags with Qt.ItemFlag, as per dmeyer0's instructions. Any suggestions on why this exception is happening, and how to fix it? I'd dearly love to get this working on my KOA3, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone! |
