I accidentally ingested garlic, which I can't properly digest (too many fructans). My poor stomach has been making some very odd noises for several hours now.

Suffice it to say we didn't make it the whole way through the show; her digestive system reacted rather poorly to the garlic Sent from my Pixel 7a using Tapatalk |

I was looking up adult bibs on Amazon (because the amount of spillage is getting ridiculous) and I think every single one of them were advertised 'for elderly.' I ... am not elderly.
It reminds me a bit of those 'as made on TV' products that are obviously disability aids but since they're too afraid to show a disabled person in an advertisement they instead have some random abled throwing food all over the place or getting into an intense wrestling match with a blanket. I could push my metal shopping cart that I use to take laundry in, but it's very slow and the sidewalks here are very uneven and bumpy. I find it easier to pull. I had a few accidents where even the empty cart fell behind me. |

I was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk. Impatient driver started honking, then tried to swerve around me and nearly knocked me down.
Didn't catch the license plate. Not that it'd matter anyways, hardly any enforcement in this province... |

Baseball Team X has only lost twice when they've had at least 7 hits.

I'm not physically disabled, but even so I never cross unless I'm convinced the approaching cars have actually stopped or slowed down enough for me to safely cross. I will never, ever cross just hoping they will - unfortunately the world is too full of all kinds of lunatics.

Before we moved to our new house my sister listed some furniture and home decorations on a website similar to Facebook Marketplace. All those things we knew we weren't going to (be able to) use in our new house. She put them up for free. There were a couple of people who stopped responding midway through the messages to arrange a pick up, but once you made an appointment with someone they all showed up.
I had one thing that I wanted to get rid of; a small desk I hadn't even unpacked yet (bought it because my desk was falling apart, but managed to repair that), but I haven't got the space for now. I didn't list it before we moved since it was all the way at the back of my storage unit and I didn't feel like getting all my other stuff out to get to it. So I decided to wait until after the move to list it. Since moving my sister has listed a couple of things that turned out we weren't going to have space for. And where in Utrecht people showed up when you arranged for a pick up, people in this town often don't. She's had several time she waited for a pick up for the people not to show up. A couple of days ago I listed the desk to pick up for free. Got a reaction pretty quickly, though she didn't answer my question of when she wanted to pick it up until yesterday morning. When she asked if she could pick it up that evening. I told her that was fine, gave her the address and asked around what time she was coming by. And no answer. My sister was out last night, so I had planned a relaxed evening watching movies in bed. But since I can't hear the doorbell when I'm upstairs I had to wait in the living room in case she just forgot to answer my message. I waited until 10 pm before heading upstairs. Tomorrow I'll be relisting the desk, no use in doing it today since I'll be out most of the day. I'll also be researching video doorbells this weekend (anyone with a recommendation?). |

For real humour, one of my neighbours in our townhouse complex has informed 5 of her neighbours that we must remove our beards immediately. Evidently her 4 year old child does not like beards though a diagnosis of pogonophobia has yet to be made and so we must shave our beards. In my discussion with her, she suggested the next step is getting the Human Rights Tribunal involved since we are destroying her child's right to enjoy life. Another neighbour suggested she was approaching the lunatic fringe—from the far side.
I see the kid perhaps once per month and so far, no running and screaming—on either side—has been noticed. |

While I know the company has taken some heat for security issues (haven't they all?) we have been very pleased with our Eufy video doorbell. We've had it for over two years and have no serious complaints. I got this one mainly because it was battery powered (need to pop it off and charge it every few months), it fit in the narrow space available by our front door, and most importantly to me, all major functions work locally with no subscription required, no required recurring costs, and the unit itself is relatively inexpensive. My specific unit also appears to be on sale for Prime Day today at a very good price. It's an older model with less than maximum resolution and features, but it does everything we want, and I'm tempted to buy a backup at this sale price. GRR. The challenges of dealing with my wife's estate.
Sue had a life-insurance policy with the beneficiary being her Mother. Her mother pre-deceased Sue (February 2023 vs November 2023). Have been working with the financial advisor who sold Sue the policy, and finally a month or so ago, we'd completed the paper work to the insurance company. Of course, Sue had never changed her name on the policy after marriage, so it was still in her maiden name. Finally a cheque was written by the insurance company and sent to me as the trustee of Sue's estate. Of course, they put the wrong address on the letter (147 some-street, and not 141 some-street). When we checked with the people at 147 they had seen nothing. The financial advisor had already been in touch with the insurance company which was how we learnt of the wrong address. They told her they would cancel the cheque and re-issue one to the correct address. Last Friday I was at a friend's cottage and had a voice-mail and text from the advisor letting me know the envelope was at a post-office branch near me and I should pick it up. Monday I went to the post-office and found out they'd had that envelope for a few weeks and were about to return it to the insurance company since it had not been picked up! Luckily I was able to get it (and NO; I'd never received any notification of a pending delivery). I got in touch with the FA and this morning learnt that the cheque was still valid; they had NOT cancelled the original cheque. I went to the bank where I have an Estate Account only to learn they could not pay the cheque in... Why? It was marked as payable to "MY NAME AS ESTATE TRUSTEE OF THE ESTATE OF WIFE'S MAIDEN NAME"... Of course as a result of the house fire I have no record of her maiden name / married name. I have now ordered a copy of our marriage certificate, and have let the FA know we can either wait for that or request a new cheque payable to "WIFE'S MARRIED NAME (NE MAIDEN NAME)" which luckily they should be aware of as various forms I had supplied to them included both names.
