multiple covers for one entry?

Is there a way of keeping two covers for a single book entry? I would like to keep an unaltered cover for books where I have altered the cover to include custom text.

Use the extra data folder. If you use the download cover dialog, you can right-click any result (including the current cover) and there's an option to save it there.

I use 'cover:alternate' in #admintags to easily find books with them.

Sweet! That's exactly what I am looking for. That folder is in the same folder as the book? And can I put anything in it for this book?

It's a subfolder in the book folder, yes. You can put anything in there.
