Well, fastboot mentioned booting so it's not clear exactly what your command was.
You can still flash boot_a with edl:

i cant access libota_jni.so, i see the file in

/system/priv-app/OnyxOtaService/lib/arm64/libota_jni.so

but cant download, sorry

It could be that the bootloader has to be unlocked?
I've never had a problem, but usually I've already unlocked the bootloader.
Settings > Developer options > OEM unlocking
But of course this will wipe all user data.

Did you try booting without flashing?

Have you tried things enough to know that it's not just flakey USB?
Does this work reliably (mutliple times)?

There's something screwy going on here.
https://shop.boox.com/products/gocolor7 says this is UFS.
But it's clearly a 64 GB eMMC.
I guess that they cheapened it up and never told the marketing folks?

Please post the result of "edl /g".

Boox update decryptor has just been updated with this device's key, so you can extract it from the update file.
Also try fastboot boot <the magisk patched boot image>, it's much safer than flashing directly, then install it directly in Magisk to the real boot image if fastboot boot success

I think that that loader is a bit of a train wreck.

Try the patched loader, slowly.
