This would be so incredible

Still using KOReader on mine, but having Kobo interface would be off the charts

I would love to see B&N's customer support for this.

update

upgraded to newest kobo firmware, newest koreader and plato, continuously run two days in koreader environment, no crash this time. kobo interface of koreader is more powerful than android version as for Front light and device control. Now problem is that each time of upgrade need a customised rebuild of plato and re-mod of koreader. koreader is simpler because its lua based UI do not need to be recompiled. Now I'm thinking a more friendly method to automate upgrade process.

Have you ever considered that if you open-source this project, other people could join you?

A little off topic.
I once experimented with the image from Kobo Glo HD and similar Android devices. I repeated it again today.)
B&N Nook Glowlight 3 (2017) - WiFi does not work, I couldn’t find how to force the backlight to turn on, the screen is upside down for obvious reasons.
Tolino Shine 2 HD 4A2 - the backlight can be turned on using certain actions, but this will always have to be done, after sleep and after turning off. WiFi works.
Tolino Shine 2 HD 4A3 - WiFi does not work. Everything else is the same as on 4A2.

Modifications of kobo_config.sh and libnickel.so are necessary because different kobos using different protocols for display rotation/touching event/light control. you must choose an appropriate model name for your tolino or nook.
