I have a serious problem, when I lock and then unlock the Wi-Fi does not come back. Wi-Fi is not activated, how can I activate it?
There seems to be some kind of problem. The kindle is a signature edition. |

Undo the changes made in BinaryRenamer and see if this has solved the problem. If not, then the cause may be different. Last edited by Daviteusz; 06-08-2024 at 08:08 AM. |

I'm very new to kindle developing so I'm not very familiar with the systems involved; but wouldn't it be simpler to sink the API/server calls in `/etc/hosts` instead? That way logs are still functional for local use.

@hexhexhex If you know those URLs to be blocked, it can be done this way too, and overall it's a better method. BinaryRenamer just uses solutions that were already on the forum.

hello, just wanted to say that this works on the paperwhite 3 version 5.16.2.1.1 i just finished it installing it. i will test it out for a bit and if it helps to know, i unregistered my kindle prior to jailbreaking yesterday for maybe have less of a risk for auto updates. the only thing is the pop up showing up for logging in to sync with the cloud
i do wanna ask if the update your kindle option in settings is grayed out after using disable ota or is it only like that because my kindle is unregistered (it was like that when i first did the jailbreak and left it on airplane mode until earlier) edit: forgot to add that i had no prior experience with jailbreaking before yesterday and i just had to do double measures to not brick the device by accident :') |

I renamed the ota in the step 9 or 10 from this tutorial
Then I cannot loggin to kindle because it cannot update. I reset the device several time and the jailbreak seems to be still present. However when I go to the kual and run restore. Nothing happens no reboot and I still cannot update... I tried to launch koreader and it wont launch as well. So I suspect that the jailbreak is half damaged or limited in the demo mode. How can I fix this? It is still on the 5.16.1.2.1 fw. Thanks a lot. |

It looks like the jailbreak is broken. Install the hotfix via mrpi. If mrpi doesn't work either, do the jailbreak from scratch.
And don't do extra steps that aren't in the instructions. There was no mention of using renameotabin or binaryrenamer |

Long story: installed the hot_fix from language break and it locked the device in managed mode no wifi no login no search bar. ... Had to do the DO_FACTORY_RESTORE 0 byte file trick to get me out of the managed stage. There is no way to redo the jailbreak since the jailbreak was never restored even after factory restore |
