Page in Book not available - 7.12
Since updating to 7.12 "Page in book - not available" after converting to AZW3, books prior to the update still show page numbers.

There have been no changes to azw3 output in calibre in years. I dont even recall if calibre ever supported page maps in azw3 but if it did it would have done so only if th einput document actually had a page map.

I didnt think so, its odd that the same book in my Oasis and all books in my Scribe pre latest updates have page numbers so can only assume its the latest update for the Scribe that's to blame...

I'll resend the same book to my Oasis later this eve, if it has page numbers then its definitely a Scribe change...

It would appear that an .sdr folder containing an .apnx file is not being created... I dont know at which stage this would occur. It is being created for the Oasis.

On further investigation on the scribe the .azw3 file is being transferred outside the folder hierarchy (Folders are the author surname,first name).

On the Oasis a folder is created with surname, firstname containg the azw3 file together with an .sdr folder containing and .anpx file.

If I transfer this folder to the scribe the page numbers work.

The problem is that the page number generation is done in the Kindle 2/3/4/Touch/Paperwhite/Voyage Device Interface driver. There is no such function in the Scribe driver. So given that you have a Scribe, you cannot get page numbers.

Someone would have to build in such functionality.

grizedale has a Kindle Scribe which is an MTP device and does not use the regular Kindle device driver. I suspect that sending apnx page number files is not implemented in the MTP driver.

There are no options in the Scribe driver. So the apnx generation is not there.

Could the option to build apnx in the regular Kindle driver be moved to calibre instead of the the driver?
