kepub works normally for me.
I just have to convert epub to kepub using kepubify and upload it to dropbox.
but I guess it might not work for some specific books.

I suspect that @Dirk-71 is uploading the files as filename.kepub and not filename.kepub.epub. If I recall correctly, calibre stores the files as filename.kepub to keep them separated from filename.epub but the ereaders need the double barrelled .kepub.epub.

This Dropbox trick works on my Kobo Clara 2E

Works on my Clara 2E as well (firmware 4.38.21908)

All I had to do was:
  1. Install NickelMenu
  2. Add to the config file on NickelMenu:
    Code:
    menu_item:main:Dropbox:nickel_open:library:dropbox
  3. Change Kobo eReader.conf:
    Code:
    kobo_dropbox_link_account_enabled=True
    dropbox_link_account_poll=https://authorize.kobo.com/{region}/{language}/LinkDropbox
Works great, thanks!

I've just gotten the Dropbox integration working with the same config mods as zuyang, on my normally unsupported Glo HD N437 running firmware 4.38.21908.

Thanks!

if you have NickelMenu installed, you just have to add the following line menu_item:main:dropbox:nickel_open:library:dropbox to the configuration file at KOBOeReader/.adds/nm/config (instructions here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=329525).
this will create a Dropbox button on NickelMenu's main menu. Clicking on it you will reach the configuration page for Dropbox synching. just like this one: https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/artic...ing-a-computer
after configuration and synchronization the same button will lead to the books you have uploaded to your Kobo folder on Dropbox.
maybe possible to activate google drive this way?

Assuming it's possible, NickelMenu would need an update to support it.

Hi all,

I was able to get this working on my Kobo Clara HD. I only made 2 changes:

added:
Code:
menu_item:main:Dropbox:nickel_open:library:dropbox
to the NickelMenu config file

Updated Kobo eReader.conf :
Code:
dropbox_link_account_poll=https://authorize.kobo.com/{region}/{language}/LinkDropbox
(I already had Nicklemenu from the KOreader 1-click install script)

I was able to put a epub on my computer dropbox folder and I can see it appear in the native Kobo homescreen. I clicked on the book to download it and then was able to open it on the default homescreen.

However, when I open up KOreader, I can't see the book ?

I can see the epub was downloaded to E:\.kobo\dropbox , but I can't see this folder via KOreader

Also, does the "Rakuten Kobo" folder need to be in the root of the dropbox ? is there any way to change/move that to a subfolder?

Thank you

Did you enable Show hidden files in File Manager? In File Manager, Settings => Show hidden files.

And no, you can't change the location of the Rakuten Kobo directory. It must be in the root of Dropbox.

Thank you, I can now see the folder after enabling the "show hidden files".

Would you recommend that I set KOReader's home to be this folder then? If thats were my dropbox sync'd books will go and any book i want to copy over usb, i can also place in that folder.

If you are going to use Dropbox for transferring files, it does sound like a good idea to set KOReader's home folder to that folder.

However, I don't really use KOReader anymore other than some testing so don't feel I should make a recommendation. I used to use KOReader for some PDF files but with the improvements in the PDF reader used by Kobo's native GUI, that need has pretty much disappeared.

Or setup Dropbox in "Cloud Storage" section inside KOReader itself and use that instead?

I believe I tried that first but it was asking for tokens and secrets - so I did it via the Nicklemenu options - just seemed a bit easier with a gui.

Unless I can use the config I created for dropbox via nicklemenu and use it to populate the Cloud Storage section ?

What are the advantages of configuring the cloud storage like this ?

Thanks

KOReader has a setting to set Dropbox on cloud storage: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=353670.
The advantage is you can use cloud storage/Dropbox to sideload books when you are in KOReader.
