Yes, just make sure that you have downloaded the correct firmware for your Kobo

Hi, I did everything you mentioned in that post, but unfortunately KoboPatchFan is not working for me running on Win11 with the newest version. Here is the error message:

There is no tgz file in the out folder. Can you please help me?

Is there an error message in the output field in Tab 3, above "Run"?

Most likely you have used the wrong patch version / wrong firmware version. If you can, use the simple automatic method on the (1) Download tab.

Otherwise, delete the Kobopatchfan folder, have it recreated and this time make sure that you have really used the patch v83 4.38.21908 for firmware 4.38.21908.
If it still doesnt work, please copy the output from tab "(3) Generate patch" here

This is strange and I don't know what the reason is, sorry. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with KoboPatchFan per se, but with the patch file itself. Maybe some permission problem.
To verify, you could check if the same error occurs when you manually run kobopatch.bat in the kobopatchfan folder. If yes, then you should ask for help in the official thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=356106

If I run the kobopatch.bat in the KoboPatchFan folder in my documents manually then nothing happens. I just see for a split second the cmd window and then it's gone.
It has something to do with my documents folder and the write protection or permission like you said. Is it possible to change the working directory from my documents to desktop?

Got it running now. It was a ransomeware safety feature of win11 which always includes the document folder. Will it be possible in the next version of kobopatchfan to change the working directory? I would like to keep this ransomeware feature activated. Thank you

This looks great and seems to be working okay for me except that on my Clara HD, it knows there's a firmware version 4.38.23038, but it doesn't recognize that there's a patch for it. I have the patch. I used it to create the folder structure and copied the firmware into the src folder, but step 1 of the software says no patch found for 4.38.23038 and that the target is 4.38.21908, But I have the patch. It exists.

If you look in the Kobo Reader forum, you'll find that if you take the patches for 4.38.21908 and modify it to look for 4.38.23038, most patches work as is. Some need an offset update and some of those were posted. I cannot recall what the thread titles are. But a search should find them. Then you can apply most if not all of the patches you previously applied.

It's easier to just wait until the patches for the current firmware are out. I won't be updating my Kobos before that, because I use a lot of patches and tinkering with this would be far too much bother for me.
