More or less once a month, yes. But you can simply install it as is, and then overwrite .adds/koreader with a recent nightly from http://build.koreader.rocks/download/nightly/

For testing on my Libra Colour, I used the install script and the OCP-KOReader-v2024.04.zip to do the basic install and then unpacked the latest nightly (think it was -32) over the koreader install directory before safely ejecting. After the install finished, I used the KFMon-uninstaller to remove KFMon. So far, my limited testing hasn't seen any issues.

I click "run with powershell" on the script and it opens a window and instantly closes while doing nothing. I have unblocked it in properties.

Have you placed the install.ps1 script in the same directory as the installer .zip file you downloaded from the link in the first message in this thread?
You might want to try opening a PS session and running the script in there so you can see any errors messages that may be generated. If I run the install.ps1 script without any other files in it's directory, the first complaint is that it can't find a mounted Kobo ereader. Code:
Couldn't find a Kobo eReader volume! Is one actually mounted? * Nothing to do! Press Enter to exit: |

Quick question (I apologize if this is not the place): is there a way to change in KOReader the sensitivity/thickness activation area for the swipe gestures? Sometimes I swipe to turn pages near-ish the bottom of the screen and ends up activating the action I set for "swipe left from the bottom".
Thank you! |

The default has y = 7/8, which I means that the swipe zone is the bottom 1/8 of the screen. If you change it to something like 15/16, for example, I think from looking at the code that the bottom of screen swipe region will be half the size since it's the last 1/16 of the screen instead of the bottom 1/8 of the screen. Hello,
I've been using this method for years. However, after pressing "Run with PowerShell", the Command Prompt opens and closes immediately. I recently installed Windows 11, and this issue started occurring when I tried it for the first time on this new operating system. P.S I have both files in the same folder. A bit odd. After unblocking the install.ps1 file, I just double-clicked on it and it opened and ran. I have .ps1 files associated with Powershell 7 to reduce hoop jumping.
Code:
PowerShell 7.4.2 PS C:\Users\username> winget search Microsoft.Powershell The `msstore` source requires that you view the following agreements before using. Terms of Transaction: https://aka.ms/microsoft-store-terms-of-transaction The source requires the current machine's 2-letter geographic region to be sent to the backend service to function properly (ex. "US"). Do you agree to all the source agreements terms? Hi @NiLuJe,
Does OCP install NickelMenu as well? I am a little confused about FW update. KFMon won’t work after update, as far as I understand. However, NickelMenu is supposed to stay working? I update Kobo Clara HD and both KFMon book icon and NickelMenu entry are not functional. KFMon icon opened just as a picture, NickelMenu’s “KOReader” was replaced by “Generator error”. I then just installed KOReader with OCP again. Am I doing something wrong? |

What version of the Kobo firmware did you update to? Was this done after a factory reset?
The OCP packages do not install NickelMenu. You would need to install it separately. The error message you are getting is, I seem to remember, tied into KFMon not being installed. See this message and the response in the Kute File Monitor thread. Are you using the scripts in the 2nd message of this thread to install the packages or are you using the .zip file directly? If you look at the .adds/nm directory do you see a file called koreader? One called kfmon? Did you reinstall KFMon from the standalone KFMon install package from the first menu? You could try adding this line to NickelMenu's config file instead of trying to use KFMon to launch KOReader: Code:
menu_item : main : KOReader : cmd_spawn : quiet : exec /mnt/onboard/.adds/koreader/koreader.sh Last edited by DNSB; 06-06-2024 at 03:45 PM. |

@DNSB
I installed 4.38.21908 I didn’t do factory reset at all. Thanks for clearing up my confusion about NickelMenu, in that case I have never installed it. I always only used the powershell script and zip archive to install KOReader. I’ll go and install NickelMenu then And also try the fix you mentioned |
