I've got a Simple Touch and a Glowlight 3 but I'm still tempted to go for this offer just for the convenience of charging with a usb-c. From what I've read the 4e isn't much of an upgrade otherwise.

4e doesn't have the warm light feature that the Glowlight 3 has for that bedtime reading. I have until the end of the month to decide but I'm leaning away from getting it as I no longer buy books at B&N due to the difficulty in freeing them.

Yeah, I missed that when I was looking at it and it does make a big difference. And I hardly buy from them anymore either. So I'll just hold onto my money until the next shiny new thing comes along.

Well, I succumbed to my gadget addiction and bought the 4e yesterday. I don't need another night reader, so not an issue but I do like the clicky keys - they are much like the Kindle Keyboard in that respect. Does have a light, just not a warm light. I think it's a bit slow, but once you start reading, it's a non-issue. I read about 30 pages last night. Has good font/font size choices. Has 212 dpi but it's still great to read. Sideloaded a couple of books. No problem once I remembered that you have to press the button on the screen to allow that. Very portable size. Power button on top. I'll do some comparisons between the Glo3 and this.

Well, last day to use the coupon for the NOOK 9” Lenovo Tablet.. I've been debating since I have the coupon and gift cards, and was looking for a new low end tablet (didn't need another e-ink device).. So, temptation got the best of me....

I think this is the last day to download, so I'm trying to get all the kinks out of my old HD+. Updating a couple of apps, but I did get my library downloaded. Not sure if it will let me use archiving once it is cut off from the account though. I like having some way to indicate that I've read it but don't yet want to delete. I do have newer tablets, but it has a nice speaker for playing sideloaded audiobooks and that seems to work ok. |

Well my Lenvo Nook came and I set it up moving apps and data from my old android tablet (I bought this primarily as a replacement for my old tablet).
As I was playing around with it I noticed that the Nook App has no menu option to load your own files (side loaded books). So I went to a side loaded book, right clicked on it and selected open with B&N Nook. The Nook app would not open the book. I had no trouble opening the book in Moon+ Reader. I only have older e-ink Nooks, so I'm not sure if you can cannot open side loaded books on those devices.... Looks like another dumb move by Barnes and Noble...... |

There was no permission listed for Files and Media on my Lenovo Nook... However, I checked the app on my Onyx Boox Mini C and there was a permission listed. Now the Epub opens in the Nook App on my Onyx Boox... I finally figured it out.... On the library page the top three options are to view Recent, All Titles, and shelves. I had Recent selected, and below that it said All Types by Most Recent. If you tap on the All Types on that line, then a drop down menu appears that lets you filter the types of files. One of the selections is My Files. When this is selected, another screen opens that lets you select the folders containing your files. They then appear in your library. Trying to get clarification on when the end of life actually starts. The email I received from B&N says June 2024. I thought I read somewhere that meant the end of June. But I can't verify that. Have sent emails to B&N but don't know if I will get an answer in time.
Need to help my sister save her e-books by using Calibre but don't want to run out of time in case they mean June 1st. If anyone knows, please post it. Thanks I got two emails from B&N and one said it was June 24th another said May 24th? That's clear as mud/ Last edited by rhyta; 05-22-2024 at 08:56 PM. |
