Are you exporting to some non-standard filesystem?

That should be fine. Try rebooting in safe mode and see if the error still happens.

Export fail
Thanks for the response. I have yet to successfully get this machine into safe mode - at least not with networking. I used msconfig.
I tried another complete export and after about 20 hours it finished successfully. Perhaps my issue was a one -ff. Thanks again, |

Do the two drives share a USB hub or a disk dock?
I have two WD black caviars in a two-slot USB 3.1 dock, copying between them is substantially slower that copying to/from an internal SATA III 6Gb/s. BR i |

A pair of Seagate USB 3.0 HDD backup drives (1T but different models) were also about 1/4 speed of an ex-laptop 5400 rpm SATA in a 3rd party USB 3.0 SATA adaptor case.
A 6T 3.5″ desktop 7200 rpm SATA in a big USB 3.0 adaptor case is fastest backup by far. Nearly as fast as internal drives. All tested on real USB 3.0 ports with USB 3.0 cables. The "A" connector is coloured blue and has 5 extra connections (at back on plug and at front on socket). Most laptop 1T or larger SATA drives also seem to be very much slower than the best WD Black 512G laptop 5400 rpm drives. |

Thanks, everyone.
The drives are slow, for sure. But I have more time than money. The computer's USB-C port plugs into a dock, and then to a 10 port powered USB hub that has 8 hard drives, a CF reader and a XQD card reader. Yes, it is slow. :-) |
