Until yesterday there has been very little PineNote for months, but around a month ago I did some asking around the pine forums about the long out of stock status and what that implied. The response was that the initial run took so long to sell that they were reluctant to make another production run until more demand is there.
There are some mitigating factors. The initial production of all prior Pine64 products were very few units only sold to developers who applied to get one. The initial production of PineNote was much larger and made available to anyone that ordered one, but it was rightfully stressed that there was no OS or applications available and only developers should get one. I am not sure why they were surprised that it took so long to sell out. All that seems like a setup for a long Catch-22 deadlock, but see next message (which will take a bit of time for me to compose). |

There has been no mention of PineNote on the Pine64 blog for quite a few months, but that changed yesterday.
https://www.pine64.org/2023/04/01/ma...ablet-bonanza/ linux can now be flashed to the PineNote over USB without having to use the UART. There is now a customised debian with customized GNOME (optimized for gray scale and animations and shadows removed). Screen performance and pen support have also been improved. No word on being back in stock, but some hints that it might happen sometime were dropped. |

The pine64 blog has been MIA for months with radio silence WRT the PineNote for even more months. But the blog is now back and it has some PineNote news.

Something has started moving.
Apparently there will soon(?) be a "PineNote Community Edition [PREORDER COMING SOON]": pine64.com/product/pinenote-community-edition-coming-soon Will be taking austerity measures in my personal economics in order to be able ordering one as soon as the preorder opens up for the masses. |
