Thanks for your reply!
The shipping of that article to my country (Chile) is around 110 USD (!). Would you please post a link for a similar product shipped from China? Much obliged for your kind reply, Enviado desde mi SM-G950F mediante Tapatalk |

I'm sorry, I don't know that there is one. The link I provided is sent from China and the companies or at least their names change constantly. I'm not sure why they ship to the U.S. for $5 and Chile is 20 times more expensive other than it may have something to do with container space minimums. Shipping charges can go up and down. It may just be a matter of keeping an eye on aliexpress. Apparently, the battery for the Boyue Mars is pretty standard or was for 7-8 inch tablets. You might try a search matching voltage and dimensions and some other choices with better shipping will turn up. Either that or if you know someone coming to Chile who's willing to bring it with them.

Two things that may help - or possibly not.
Firstly, I have a Kindle that has hardly been used since I upgraded to a Boyue Alita. After a couple of years idleness it had a flat battery with a triangle warning symbol like your Mars. With a standard charger it wouldn't come back to life but I do have a smart charging plug that is supposed to monitor the amount of charge according to the requirements of the battery. It can charge pretty fast without damaging anything. The Kindle charged up OK using this one. Secondly, battery life so far on my two e-readers has been impressive. However, I often use the Alita connected to wi-fi using apps like Word reference and Reverso to read books in a foreign language. In this situation the battery level falls away incredibly fast but that's just the way it is given present technology. I could use the e-reader with a usb cable attached when it is connected to wi-fi. Anyway, see if you can get it charge up with a better charger. It'll come in handy even if it doesn't work for you in this instance. |

Replacement batteries for the Mars have shown up on Ebay and Amazon, at least here in Europe. Search for the original "Boyue CLP307499" type, they're actually reasonably priced. It's ready to plug in with the small charger pcb included.
My Mars is now in its fifth year and it's getting a bit short of breath too. Last edited by Jinz; 03-20-2024 at 02:31 PM. |

Unless you are connecting direct to the battery cell with a specialist charger the charger on the 5V microUSB port makes little difference. On micro USB the device decides what current to take. If it was an ancient USB 1.0 host port the current might only be 100mA, but that simply takes 5x longer than 500mA. Slow charging is actually better for battery life.
