Hi @DenisR,
I'd be also happy to get v2.3 for the Max 2. I'd really appreciate it if you could share the file. Thanks! |

I'm certainly the last one in the world to insist on the "latest and greatest", but if a device is five years old maybe you should try the current software release?

The current firmware renders the device unusable. Opening a very light app (Readcube Papers) takes about 3 minutes. With previous versions, the same app (also same version) opened almost instantly.
And yes, I and many others also tried to factory reset. Unfortunately, it's more than apparent that Onyx tries to force customers into buying a new device, which is a little excessive considering that they sold me this ereader about 3 years ago. I may indeed buy a new one in the future, but it won't be an Onyx device, that's for sure. In the meantime, it would be very helpful if somebody could upload an older version (pre v3.0) of the Max 2 firmware. Last edited by Maestroso; 01-27-2024 at 10:15 AM. |

Hi, I'm in the same boat here and hoping to find an older firmware or else I'll maybe try the root route!
I was also surprised that it doesn't seem possible to transfer files over USB, I'm guessing this may also be due to the latest firmware versions using Booxdrop which means Onyx get to play middleman and keep a beady eye on usage. |

For some reason I wasn't able to get a data connection with my Win10 laptop other than with bluetooth but after some restarts of both devices, it's now showing file and folder structure like a regular Android phone in Windows Explorer, thank goodness!
I need to get up to speed as I'd been on Mac devices for a while and have bad vision problems hence the desire to move to an eInk screen. Thanks for replying, it prompted me to plug it back in and try again! I'm guessing Windows set up some drivers previously but needed the restarts to fully refresh. |
