Ok everything works fine. So I should explain better my issues and how I solved it for the few marginal that bought a H2O 1st edition.

Issue: After getting the 3.7.0 image (aug 2014) from here during, registration there was an error after entering password for the wifi connection.


solution (that worked for me):

• burn img 3.7.0 (aug 2014 version) to internal sd
• Downlad firmware 3.15.0 kobo 5 here
• Extract KoboRoot.tgz to .kobo
• Change KoboReader.sqlite user database value to ["0","0","0","0","0","0",false ,false, false] to avoid registration and autoupdate.
• Finally reboot.

And now works like a charm.

PS:
Just to mention, I spent a lot of time trying different firmware version that didn't work:
- 4.2.8432
- 4.20.14617
- 4.31.19086
- 4.35.20400
- 4.38.21908

I don't know what version firmware my H2O 1st gen is on, but it is a version 4. So there;s nothing wrong with those versions. I suggest you give it a go updating again to 4.38.

I don't want auto sync enabled because I don't want to get registered.
Since after my version it fills user sql database with other sync variable which makes it impossible to bypass it.

Idk maybe it's not an issue to have sync enabled? But I remember having issue which made me sign out and reboot each time.

Also what I had was an infinite loading screen when I updated for later version. And I am too lazy each time to check on serial port.

For now I have a Koreader + KSM 8 running fine.

I just tried again to upgrade this path:
- 3.7.0 -> 3.15.0 (works fine) -> 3.19.XX (sync critical error signout)-> 4.38 wifi can't connect : "something went wrong... Please try again"
