Try turning off your AV and see how you get on.

I would suggest checking the settings of your antivirus software to see if it is scanning or blocking access to your book files. Also, if you have any file synchronization services (like Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive), make sure they are not actively syncing the folder where your books are stored, as this can sometimes cause access issues.
Another solution you might want to consider is using a dedicated eBook management tool. For Windows 10, a user-friendly option is https://bibliovore.en.softonic.com/. This software is designed for managing and reading eBooks on Windows devices, and it can offer a smoother experience with your Kindle Fire HDX books. |

I totally agree that Calibre is a great choice for eBook management. However, I suggested Bibliovore as an alternative, particularly for users who might find Calibre a bit overwhelming due to its extensive features. Bibliovore has a more simplified and intuitive interface, which can be appealing for those who are looking for a straightforward eBook reader and manager for their Windows 10 devices. It's always great to have multiple options, and the choice between Calibre and Bibliovore often comes down to personal preference and specific needs. |

Mac, Windows and Linux. Currently 7.x Even the ancient 1.48 on XP is still fine, though you'd have to use send to folder for newer devices. |

The OP has not been back since posting in this thread. I suggest we stop trying to find a fix for someone who either doesn't care or has solved the problem. Either was the OP has not been back. This thread is dead.
