App recommendation to read manga
I’d recommend YACreader. It views most formats, especially the two that you mentioned, and costs $3.99. It was updated just two weeks ago. You can find other cheaper or free readers, but they haven’t been updated in a long while. YACreader works well. I downloaded a cbr file and loaded it into YACreader within moments. It offers a lot of syncing options.
There really aren’t open source apps on the iPad. Apple likes every dev to go through the store, even if the app is free. Last edited by Cootey; 10-21-2023 at 07:33 AM. |

Just wanted to add that YAC is actually open source for the most part. The desktop suite of apps is FOSS, but the iOS app isn't because of Apple's developer requirements. I've used it for over a decade, and the dev has even taken feedback on many occasions. Being able to run the desktop app as a server for all my comics, and manga is totally sick. The iOS app let's you stream or download anything from the server on demand.
Sorry to reply to an old post, but the tread was on the first page of the Apple devices forum. Figured it was not that big a deal because of this. |
