Metadata.db is ALWAYS in the root of the library folder (unless you jump thru hoop to locate it elsewhere.)

Run Library Maintenance (on the Library Icon in the GUI)
Common reasons for errors: 1)putting the Library on a network drive. 2)Multi-use (calibre is single access). 3)Using the OS (or 3rd party app) to make changes. Must use only Calibre GUI or command line utilities to keep pieces together

I have received answer

Hi,

Thank for sending us the metadata file.

After initial investigation, it looks like there is something weird with our sorting algorithm. Those books are indeed there but not in correct order (you can try to type 170 in the search box)

We will work on providing the fix for this issue as soon as possible.

Regards,
Calibre Sync Help Team
Anyway I agree with chaley about rename this section

for what its worth. (using C-sync with dropbox)

a couple of times I have had issues with the app on my tablet accessing my library copy in dropbox, but when I investigated, its because I have not allowed enough time for dropbox cloud to sync with my desktop.
typically, metadata.db is the last file to sync in dropbox, and can be the slowest to sync.
if its not fully updated to cloud, then app fails to connect to library. thus if I prematurely put my desktop to sleep before it finishes synching...

( my workflow is: i update calibre on PC, then mirror sync that to local dropbox folder, which then syncs to cloud ).

I support renaming this sub forum . and also suggest that CC abandonware owner samcohen is removed as an admin/mod/ whatever , downgrade him to basic membership.

Any news if Calibre Sync can sync back custom column changes ( read status) back so that Calibre on the desktop can see them?

I use count pages plugin to display length of the books. Will Calibre Sync display those?

Yes, Calibre Sync shows pages. If it resyncs read status I don’t know, but I don’t think so.
I use WebDAV and CS reads only the metadata.db. Maybe if you are connected to calibre server, but that has to be checked by someone else

So I bought the app.

1) It does not sync read back (it does not sync back anything, it is strictly one way sync, so it is unlikely to change, I am afraid)

2)It display count pages but not on the main interface (one needs to "open" the book) and it cannot sort based on this custom column :-(.

Weird, that is not what I see at all. I have just the "read" column ("precteno in my language) that I sync with Calibre. Any idea why your and my apps differ?

Edit: Aha,*I have to clik on one of the cutom columns and then I an pick out of them. Not exactly intuitive. But thanks for the hint.

My late 2 cents; upgraded tablets, CC didn't come along; Calibre Sync is purchased, installed and synced. Definitely a different approach from CC, but in a lot of ways, better.

Is there any forum for Sync support?

It's pretty good so far. I keep all my libraries up on OneDrive anyway so it's nice to have the library on the device to look at covers, use tags and series etc to find what you want but not the books (my non-fiction library is huge won't fit on an Onyx) and sync down when I picked what I need. This is how I do it on Windows with Calibre itself too. Just the metadata/library/covers to browse then download the book as needed to save space.

I would like to have everything on an external SD card though because there are scenarios where I can't mobile hotspot from my phone. That doesn't work sadly, like Calibre Companion it can download and index the files fine to OTG SD card but not open them. Nothing much does on the Leaf that's a problem I'm looking at after I unbrick my Leaf (trying to solve this issue in the first place LOL) and try to work out how to make OTG a useful feature if it's even possible at all with Android 10.

Thanks @Loosheesh I might look into that as a setup I guess that's to help prevent corruption of the .db due to sync conflicts?

Do you find that this method is efficient on your boox device? I am new to that and have been organizing my library, but don't know what the most efficient method would be in order to play nice with my boox page.
