Bricked Kindle 4, No Fastboot/Diags (CONT.)
Hello everyone,
I posted a little while ago in another part of these forums back in mid January trying to get some help with recovering my Kindle 4 (Non-Touch) after the Kubrick and MfgTool failed to yield any results. If you want to read a little more on the background, the thread this here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=344416 The user there suggested connecting to the serial port to get a better idea of what was going on, so in the time since, I ordered a USB to Serial FTDI Adaptor with a 1.8v mode, and have finally been able to get something out of the Kindle. But sadly, it seems like there is still a lot of work to do. Simply turning on the Kindle does nothing but using Kubrick tool, although it doesn't get past the 'Waiting for Fastboot' page, the serial monitor spits out the following: Code:
U-Boot 2009.08-lab126 (Feb 19 2012 - 05:03:11) CPU: Freescale i.MX50 family 1.1V at 800 MHz mx50 pll1: 800MHz mx50 pll2: 400MHz mx50 pll3: 216MHz ipg clock : 50000000Hz ipg per clock : 50000000Hz uart clock : 24000000Hz ahb clock : 100000000Hz axi_a clock : 400000000Hz axi_b clock : 200000000Hz weim_clock : 100000000Hz ddr clock : 800000000Hz esdhc1 clock : 80000000Hz esdhc2 clock : 80000000Hz esdhc3 clock : 80000000Hz esdhc4 clock : 80000000Hz MMC: FSL_ESDHC: 0, FSL_ESDHC: 1 Err -19 on send ext_csd Warning: fail to get ext csd for MMC! idme_get_var ERROR: couldn't switch to boot partition Err -19 on send ext_csd Warning: fail to get ext csd for MMC! idme_get_var ERROR: couldn't switch to boot partition Board: Unknown Boot Reason: [POR] Boot Device: MMC Board Id: 0000000000000000 S/N: 0000000000000000 *** TODO: Dump protected MMC here *** Invalid board id! Unfortunately, it looks like the device's flash memory has been damaged. This is repairable but requires bga soldering skills. Besides, you lost all your identification numbers so you wouldn't register any more reader with Amazon anyway. The only reasonable way out is to buy a reader with a broken display and move the motherboard from it.
