how to check the serial number when there is no menu?
Hello,
I like fixing broken devices. Recently came across a broken Kindle Keyboard (D00901). After replacing the battery, few restarts and a factory reset, the device boots. IT does not read any of the books it has in the memory (I've added new ones via calibre after the factory reset). When I press the @Menu@ button, nothing happens. All other buttons work just fine. I noticed that the entire "system" directory is missing. This makes me wonder if the device is not a victim of a failed hack? I can get the device to the recovery menu. So I guess I could use that to update the firmware. BUT - without the Menu, I cannot go to the settings and read the serial number. Is there a way to read the SN (and ideally - the software version) in another way? I don't even know if it is the 3G or just Wifi :/ Thanks! |
