Calibre server over LAN different results in same browser

Identical Macs w. osx11.6 El Capitan
Identical Google Crome 87.0 [a containing Calibre, b receiving]

Calibre 3.48.0 server

a shows book fine
b shows book with consistantly missing letters here and there

Google removed the manual setting of character sets long ago [it CAN be set via an extension], but WHY is the book different on the two browsers?

Please.
