Combining 3 Libraries
Hi folks, Karen here. I created 3 libraries I have been using for about a year.
One is called "Classics I've Read" another is called "Awarded Books I've Read" and the third is called "Other Books I've Read"! Is there any way to combine all 3 libraries and just name it "Books I've Read"? I just discovered that I can input "Tags" onto each book so I really don't need to have 3 libraries. Thanks in advance for any help - Karen N. PS - Don't get too technical, I'm a senior!! Ha! Ha! |

I suggest you back up your libraries before doing this sort of thing.
Tag the books in each library the manner you suggest (i.e. 'Classics I've Read', 'Awarded...', 'Other...' Rename the biggest library to something like "Calibre Books" - you do that from the library icon dropdown - you can't rename the current library, so you'll need to switch to one of the smaller libraries. For the two small libraries: select all the books (Ctrl+A), then use the Copy to library tool in the right click menu to copy the books to the "Calibre Books" library. You could create virtual libraries for the three "xxxx I've Read" tags. BR |

I second virtual libraries. Then you can have a tab on top for each type of book, and one tab for all books.
Then just click any tab and only those books will be shown in the book list. Very handy! And you can add more tabs. Many more tabs if you want to. Favorite books. Bad books. Favorite authors. Books to read again. Books unread. Biographies. Thriller. General. Historical. Fantastic. Romance. Non-fiction. New books. Books without any matching tab. Series. Ongoing series. Finished series. Finnish books. And so on... If you can do a search and find a certain set of books, then you can promote that search to a virtual library with a tab. |

And all those tabs do NOT need to ALWAYS show (once defined).
They are in standby on the VL button on the far left. (I have 4: poor/none, Have Read, To Read, To be touched up) VL's are really in that all you other SAVED searches can be used against just that view |
