Question Calibre caching of books in browser no longer works w/o https (in recent browsers)

Hi,

I'm not sure if this has already been addressed, especially as it was first reported a while back, but I can't seem to find a post in this forum for it. Please let me know if there is already a post.

In Chrome and Firefox browser, it shows the below message when you access the Calibre server in the browser. This issue has also been raised in GitHub.

Quote:
WARNING: This browser does not support Application Cache so offline access to calibre will not work. Some browsers only enable Application Cache over HTTPS connections, so you may have to setup HTTPS for your calibre server.
What does this mean? And how can this be addressed? Do you have to set up a HTTPS?

Thanks,

Inukami

Yeah you have to setup https. Browser makers have decided they dont want to make it easy for ordinary people to run HTTP servers. So they have started disabling various features in their software if you dont connect over https.
