Unable to send books to SD card on new Nook (BNTV460)
Calibre correctly recognizes my new Nook (BNTV460) and is able to see what books are on the SD card as well as in main memory. It can send books to the Nook's main memory but fails when trying to send to the SD card.
The error log says: calibre, version 3.40.1 ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device Failed to create folder named Books in (u'SD card',) with error: 2:PTP Layer error 2002: LIBMTP_Create_Folder: Could not send object info. 2:Error 2002: PTP: General Error Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/device.py", line 87, in run File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/device.py", line 591, in _upload_books File "site-packages/calibre/devices/mtp/driver.py", line 427, in upload_books File "site-packages/calibre/devices/mtp/driver.py", line 403, in ensure_parent File "site-packages/calibre/devices/mtp/base.py", line 26, in synchronizer File "site-packages/calibre/devices/mtp/unix/driver.py", line 380, in create_folder DeviceError: Failed to create folder named Books in (u'SD card',) with error: 2:PTP Layer error 2002: LIBMTP_Create_Folder: Could not send object info. 2:Error 2002: PTP: General Error |

That's a failure creating a folder named Books on the SD card. Try using a different SD card or reformat it, or create the folder manually

Looking at the error message, it appears that your Nook may be using PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) and not MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). This can cause some odd errors when trying file system operations other than simply copying/deleting files. If you are using MTP, you might want to try power cycling both the computer and the tablet.
The last time I played with a Nook tablet, I seem to remember having to swipe down the screen to see the notifications and change USB for charging mode to MTP. I don't know if this is still necessary. Another question is what type of computer are you connecting your Nook tablet to. I seem to remember at one time, that to use MTP on a Mac, you needed to install a Google add-in though there's also an equally vague memory that calibre added an internal MTP driver. Thanks. Manually making a new Books directory at root level on the SD card seems to have solved the problem. Would have preferred to use my old /MyFiles/eBooks directory with subdirectories by author so the Nook software could find the files but Aldiko seems to be fine with this.
