What, if anything, do you do about archiving your audio books?

Do you keep your own copy or rely on the cloud?

Do you convert it and if so what to?

At the moment I'm using a mixture of formats but I'm impressed with opus which is an open source codec geared toward speech specifically. I find I can get a file that's ~75% or less than the equivalent quality mp3 file. By "equivalent" I obviously mean "to my ears".

I archive all my audio books. I convert to m4a format and save on a drobo raid. It might be safer to make a back up in the cloud, but .5 TB is kind of expensive on the cloud and in theory at least, I have access to 99% of them via audible.

Just remember, CDs and DVDs can deteriorate just sitting there. It's a good idea to check them yearly to see if they still play.
I keep mine on two different hard drives. That way if one dies, I still have the other.

Well, I also have them on my hard drive.

But I've never had a problem with CDs or DVDs deteriorating, except for rewriteable ones that I've used too many times.
