Option 1. The 'Adding to Folder Destination' Option
This is my favorite (and also the fastest) way of converting web channels and bringing them on your Sony Clie (or any other PDA which can be directly accessed like a removeable harddrive). 1) The converted channels are copied to a predefined folder. For a predefined folder, I use c:\isilo_converted\. You must create this folder *before* you convert the channels or things won't work right. If you want to change the name of the folder: open the .ixl Web Channel document with your favorite editor (e.g. notepad.exe) and do a search & replace. Search for all 'c:\isilo_converted\' (without the quotes) occurences and replace that string with your harddrive letter and your folder name. This way iSiloX copies the converted document to your folder with a file name based on the Document Title and with the extension .pdb. When the conversion was successful, you can copy the entire content of your folder to your memory stick (/PALM/PROGRAMS/iSilo) via MS Import (or any other removable memory medium for your PDA. For more instruction, consult the iSiloX help file). Update: One of our users informed me that Apple OS handles the file saving path a little different. Here is an example how the path should look like: titanium OS X:Users:alcapone:desktop:isilo_converted: Use a text editor to replace 'c:\isilo_converted\' with the string from above (adjusted according to your Username etc, of course). If you need more help, don't hesitate to ask. |

Option 2. The 'Hotsyncing to Ram' Option
This option works well if you have only a few web channels to convert; however, it uses your PDA's internal ram memory (which is often limited). Before you can use iSiloX, you must edit the .ixl Web Channel document to adjust for your hotsync name. Open it with your favorite editor (e.g. notepad.exe) and do a search & replace. Search for all 'yourhotsyncname' (without the quotes) occurences and replace that string with your own hotsync name. Save. |

Option 3. The 'Hotsyncing to External Memory (VFS)' Option
Use this option if you want to transfer the converted documents automatically to your external memory card with the next hotsync. Same procedure as option 2: Before you can use iSiloX, you must edit the .ixl Web Channel document to adjust for your hotsync name. Open it with your favorite editor (e.g. notepad.exe) and do a search & replace. Search for all 'yourhotsyncname' (without the quotes) occurences and replace that string with your own hotsync name. Save. |
