How To Identify Scam/Phishing Emails
The Amazon name and logo have been used by criminals in "phishing" emails that try to trick you into revealing personal information. These emails usually pose as "requests for updated information on your account" or threaten to close your account if you do not update your information. Amazon has provided information to help you identify real emails, and a place to report any suspect emails:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...odeId=15835501 A basic "rule of thumb" is virtually all unsolicited emails from Amazon are "no reply" emails. If an email appears from Amazon to inform you of an issue pertinent to your account, it will NOT ask you to reply to it. If fact, you can't reply to it. If you emailed Customer Service and received a reply, it too will NOT ask you to reply to it. Instead, it will give you options to click on: "Yes, this answered my question" or "No, this did not answer my question." Bottom line: Amazon will NEVER ask you for personal information via email. If you receive a suspect email, report it to Amazon and let them deal with the criminals. |
