Amazon Ebooks On Other Readers?
Hello,
Can you get the Amazon ebooks onto other ereaders like the cybook opus?. The reason is in the uk ebooks on Amazon are at least two pounds cheeper if not more on each ebook, & I really want a smaller ereader than the Kindle 3. Thank You xxx |

Easy enough to install an older version, and turn off automatic updates.

Agreed - if you can find an older version. Either way, this is key info that was missing in your original response.

The answer is yes but you will have to strip the DRM and then convert the unstripped file to match your reader.

You can do a Goggle search for the necessary info. I have been told that it is really easy to do.

It's not that easy. Especially if you've bought a Kindle for the ease of downloading and now you're having to figure out which of ten different versions of [name of program] to download to match your processor and what has to be installed before what and when you uninstall the wrong [name of program] and the new [2nd thing you have to download] can't find the new [name of program] because you had to restart and yadda yadda yadda.
For most people the answer is "no," you can't buy an ebook from Amazon and read it on a non-Kindle reader. Unfortunately. |

Other books on the Kindle
Hi, I'm new to the Kindle world and all that goes with the e-reader stuff. Can I download a book say from Chapters (Kobo Reader) and put it on my Kindle? Or is it just books from Amazon that work on it? I love my Kindle, but there are some books that I cannot get in Canada from Amazon. I can get them from Chapters? Any answers would be great!!

It's the format that makes the world go round.
Kindle likes *.mobi besides his own format but do has problems with epub (although it's possible using some extras). So you need to look for the format of the book when not buying from Amazon. Be aware of DRM protection !!!! Kindle can't handle DRM protected books no matter what the format is. Most books sold are DRM protected. |

It's really very easy. Install Kindle for PC and then install "skindle" (Google for it). It's a simple executable with no scripts, etc, to mess with. Really couldn't be easier and has worked beautifully with all the Kindle books that I've bought.

Sorry Harry, you may find it verry easy, but I find it completely confusing to the point of gibberish. The fact that when I do google for it, I get results which show pages and pages of people who query skindle usage and application demonstrates that what is obviously easy to you is not so easy to others.
