Yeah, as many problems as they've had getting a plain old grayscale e-ink device out, I won't hold my breath on that.
I have little interest in color e-ink personally. Used to, but after reading on an iPad a good bit I'm just waiting for the right LCD tablet. The refresh speed and other functions are more useful to me than long battery life and less eye strain. |

they didnt have any problems with "plain old " gray scale epaper. They had to create an entire factory to be able to produce the plastic electronics that the device is a showcase for.

Today, I am sitting here waiting for an Android tablet with 11" screen. And I am not the only one. |

I agree they should have been out 6-8 months ago. They know it to and Im sure they regret not having been. But the e-ink panel, aside from backlog of e-ink film production, wasnt the delay. it was just a matter of ramping up to quality volume production.

I think the Mayan's had it right, move on before it happens. The rest of us are standing around dumbfounded awaiting the day.
All seriousness and back on topic, I'd like to see regular e-ink screens perfected before work on colour happens (ie: the plastic substrate gets released). |

perhaps something better will come to market before then and kill the color e-ink. Hell, look at what the iPad has done to the expensive e-reders

Has Plastic Logic ever delivered anything other than mock ups and product announcements?

I think will need to drop the price of their upcoming devices by about 30-50% if they want to have a chance of surviving at all.

The device they keep demonstrating around the world is not a mock-up, it is the real thing. So they have (or at least had, in one point in history ;-), it might since have died) at least one working device ;-). |

In any case, moot for me as I'm done with e-ink/e-paper devices. Those are only useful for avid readers, and I've never been one. Kindle 1 was a typical impulse buy of a new gadget which I'm notorious for. |

My excitement for Plastic Logic devices died when they dropped the SD card slot and announced the prices for the Que. Having a color epaper reader by 2012 will be too late, we will have real tablets/slates out by then...

I have a better chance of being the United States President than they releasing anything actually . They haven't released the greyscale version , how in the world are they doing to do anything with color.
PreOrder Sold out , this is the funniest thing I hear |
