jetBook supports ePUB, MOBI, PRC and RTF formats
I had a chance to be a Beta tester for ePUB, MOBI, PRC and RTF formats
and it works fine on my unit. you can see the attached pictures of Mobi file and 2nd picure with interface that shows EPUB, MOBI, PRC and PDF files. As I was informed JetBook with all these formats will be available on April 2nd. |

Wow, I would have liked to beta test those, but I am glad that it will soon be available for all. I really like the reader and this will only make a good thing even better! |

Are both Mobi and ePub DRM formats supported?

Is either? One would hope that a reader aimed at the commercial market is going to support at least one popular DRM format!

Why, exactly? It's never supported DRM yet seems to have performed adequately in the marketplace. I think the Jetbook has shown that DRM support is unnecessary, primarily becuase it has no competition in its market niche.

Why? Because whether one "approves" of the fact or not, the overwhelming majority of commercial eBooks have one form of DRM or another and, quite apart from the legalities of it, the average bookreader simply wants to buy a book and read it, not have to mess around with conversion tools.

What it will mean is that the average person will be returning the Jetbook. They don't know about DRM stripping and file conversions. They'll know that the eBooks they want to read won't work.

No DRM but PRC files downloaded from Multiformat section from http://www.fictionwise.com/ work fine

Unless they have friends that provide them with books. Like what happened when it was hard to download music and movies from the net.
