Only with the books bought and downloaded from Amazon, not sideloaded books. If this feature is important to you, get something else, not a Kindle. Kobo and Pocketbook both support series for sideloaded books.

and the series may not always be correct. If sorting by series is something that's important, get a Kobo.

What Sirtel and JSWolf say. Series on a Kindle (unless it's jailbroken and using something else as a reader) comes from Amazon, if there at all and often wrong.
The only fudge is to have books only sideloaded and the metadata (not name) have <series-name><#number><actual-title> as the title and then it will sort. (without the < >). If there are more than 9 books then 01, 02 etc... Get a Kobo if Collections and Series is important. |

This allows you to download a book from Amazon, fix the CSS, and then sideload it and still have it appear as if it was downloaded straight to the Kindle. You can also borrow a book from a library using Amazon as the provider for the loan, and sideload the same book you purchased elsewhere (again, with the right metadata), and have it appear as if it was downloaded directly. As long as you never delete the loan from "My Content...", it will work, even after you have returned the loan. |

If you have widely different generations of Kindle on same account it also messes up Collections. Most of my ebooks are PD and few of those are on Amazon. Only maybe 40 ebooks bought elsewhere that might have ASINs. And a bother to find them. Out of 6300 books approx maybe 400 are bought from Amazon. The Amazon eco-system is a bit too locked down and they generally won't fix mistakes. Oh, and for years we have only ever sideloaded books bought from Amazon. Return too much stuff (not ebooks) and they will also kill your Kindle content and ability to publish on Amazon using KDP. Last edited by Quoth; 07-10-2023 at 02:55 PM. |
