Is your Bookeen's exposed storage visible as a mounted drive in Explorer? Is the cable you are using a charge-only cable? Try another cable just in case.

At a wild eyed guess, the Linux file store gadget device is likely to be your Bookeen so it's possible that calibre does not recognize it.

Hence my comment in the message you quoted. I couldn't find any device interface plugins in calibre that listed the Diva or Bookeen.
