Looks like folks are in a vintage sci-fi mood...

I don't think of Dandelion Wine as sci-fi, it's essentially straight fiction influenced by memoir and magic realism, IMO. I loved it and I'm no sci-fi fan.

Touche. I think of magical realism as a sub-genre, but one that I enjoy immensely. But, then again, I also categorize most Murakami as MR, and he is one of my favorite authors.

This list is fantastic! It was difficult to vote because I could read them all. In the end, I went with my usual method to vote for half. Oddly I didn't vote for the 3 that I already own! I picked the ones that captured the essence of summer that I'm in the mood to read.

Yes, I think we'll have fun reading the final winner, and also several of the others in the list. And, in my case, at least one that never got nominated, but that the discussion highlighted. A good month for discovery!

Well, I've just read A Hundred Summers over Memorial Day weekend. And, I've got The Summer Book on hold at the library. So I'm already on my way to reading more than one in the list this month!

And Dandelion Wine it is. I'll get a (closed) thread going in a while for a visual reminder.
