Question Export Library Function Gone?

Today I realized that the export library function is missing from the library menu.
Is that temporary, an error or is the functionality to be found somewhere else?

I have the same problem - there is no import/export option offered under the Calibre Icon. Can anyone help me find how to get it back, as I want to export the library to another machine.

You're probably in Device View. So either do as theducks suggested, unplug your device, or switch to Library View.

I have no device plugged in. I have a set of icons along the top with "add books" at one end and "Preferences" at the other. About 2/3 way along is the "calibre library" icon. Clicking on the drop down menu gives me three options - "Switch/create new library", 2Pick a random book", and "library maintenance". Under the latter, I can "backup metadata", "check library" (whatever that means), and "restore database". On my new machine, clicking the "calibre library" icon gives me several more options, one of which is "import/export". Where has this option gone on my old machine?

Import/Export hasn't always been a part of calibre. How old is your calibre version on your old machine?

(The current version of calibre is 2.79.1)

Be advised: Connect to Folder is treated as a device. The Status bar (bottom) should have some info as it changes a bit when connected

It was 2.4 but I updated it to the current version and although there are still only three options under the "calibre" icon - one of them is now export/import (pick a random book has disappeared!). I have the same version on my new machine and it has 5 options in the drop down box. So there is something strange going on.

Uninstall calibre (you will not loose your DB or settings), reboot your system and install it again.

(maybe a good idea to tell what your system is and what version of calibre you try to install.)

You don't get the the Rename or Remove options if you only have one library, viz:

Good point. I somehow missed the point "calibre icon" in Pysifr's post.
