The screamer is a QUAD Core codenamed “Hollywood” and will be based on the NVIDIA T30 “Kal-El” which will have a 500% performance increase over the dual-core Tegra 2. bgr |

I saw that. the code name for the quad core, Hollywood, makes you wonder if this will have it's VOD a central aspect of it's media hub.
very interesting that's for sure. Last edited by boswd; 05-18-2011 at 08:25 AM. |

Stop trying to sell us on specs and just show us what the device can do and how well it does it.
I've seen equipment that was great on paper and lame in real world use. Last edited by RockdaMan; 05-18-2011 at 01:20 AM. |

But, seriously. I agree. They can throw out all these wonderful tech-specs and promise us the moon. But, when it comes out of the gate, it's like "The Homer." |

A quad core tablet sounds great, but how good could the battery life possibly be?

The Amazon tablet is "Magicial(tm)", and "Just works(tm)" and wait for it.... works with the Amazon "Ecosystem(tm)". True you can have great specs and a horrible product, but there is a relationship between specs and functionality. The better the specs are on a product the more promise it has to be a feature rich product. It will depend on the activity. The Linux kernel has step functionality built into it so it can change the processor speed based on demand. That means it will be able to power down the CPU on low use and bump it up when CPU is needed. |

I've seen a couple of vague references to low power reflective screens in re: the Amazon tablets that could mean PQ/Mirasol (or could be just wishful thinking on my part). That would excite me more than any number of extra cores. Eink isn't flexible enough, AMOLED/LCD uses too much power, hopefully mirasol would be just right.
I'd like to see the tech make into a major brand's product. Amazon will support their stuff. Hard to know if a startup like Notion Ink will actually survive the whole warrantied period. |
