How long between dowloading the .acsm and downloading epub?

Hello All,

I'm relatively new here, and had a question about reading library books in epub format. Perhaps it is library specific, but assuming a 21 day checkout period, does anybody know if that 21 days starts when the .acsm file is downloaded from the library, or when i download the epub file in ADE?

Say a popular book on my holds list becomes available, but I am not ready for it, can i download the .acsm and sit on it for a week or so and then download it with ADE with the full 21 days still available?

I cannot seem to find this information anywhere, so your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
