Books not loading (Original Kobo)
This morning I thought I'd try to update my Kobo before v. 1.8 is available in Australia - it's an original, running firmware v.1.4.
Fired up the Borders desktop and it downloaded v.1.7, so I connected the Kobo and tried to update it. I'm kicking myself now though, because now none of my books will load! They are all displayed but when I click on a title, the Kobo flashes briefly and then nothing happens. I have tried a safety pin reset, connecting and reconnecting, resyncing to the Borders desktop - nothing seems to work! And to think I had been happily avoiding the desktop and just using Calibre and ADE until now. Any suggestions, please? At the moment my Kobo is useless! |

How did you upgrade your device with the Borders desktop? The Borders desktop shouldn't try to update your device.

Yep, you have corrupted your database.
Been there done that! One of the stickies has instructions on how to replace the database. |

Thank you!! Replaced the database file and all is working again.
If I cannot upgrade my firmware via the Borders app, how am I meant to do it? |

The process in place is that Kobo sends the new files to the International partners, generally within a few days of the release here. Then the partners review the files and release the update via the usual channels to their customers. So if you are a Borders AU customer, using the Borders AU desktop, you will get your firmware notification through your desktop application, or if a WiFI user (not that there is a WiFI update now), the next time you use the WiFI.
