Also if it fails due to maker's defect in two years SOGA and similar means refund, repair or replace at Amazon's cost inc shipping. They are STILL trying to sell 2nd year warranties on some European sites. Apple was prosecuted in Italy for it. Currys and Argos in Ireland & UK try to sell warranties, they are really insurance schemes and the first 2 to 6 years are SOGA warranties with the retailer anyway (duration depends on product). |

Experimental browser to download from a Calibre server? *shudder*
Ambient light sensor as well. Perhaps some other HW feature not yet enabled or advertised because the SW isn't ready. But probably not the last one. |

So, when will this go on sale? J/K
I look forward to the reviews. The only thing I care about is how the screen looks |

I'd guess it's because the "Paperwhite" brand has a certain mind share.
Also, I believe Amazon advertises the Oasis 3 as having a 7" 300 PPI "Paperwhite screen" But I'm kinda glad that I'm not the only one kinda wondering that... |

I mean, a "Kindle" comes with one of those lithium batteries, so that sort of fits.

Have there been any reports of a Kindle exploding Galaxy Note 7 style?

If you can deal with a 6" display, 8GB storage (32gb option), waterproof for 60 minutes in 6' of water, and half the battery life (6weeks vs. 12 weeks), voice view screen reader through Bluetooth, and experimental web browser, you can buy the PW 10th generation (issued 2018) for $79.99. So???? BTW 10th generation gets 4 years of security releases after the last new unit is sold. Seeing only small changes - except if you need the Signature version.

I have a Kobo Aura H2O with a 6.8" screen and I would not go back to a 6" screen. |

Excited about this new device - sounds awesome. I will not go back to Kindle until they get their interface together. I know with this new device they have update the UI but I still feel they have more work to do in this space. I look forward to seeing everyone's reviews about the new device but sticking with iPad mini using Maple Read for now. Good Luck all!

This is a major shot at Kobo in Canada. The Signature Edition is 32 GB of Storage for $210 CDN... compared to $350 for a Forma 32 GB edition. The 8 GB PW is $150, whereas the (slightly larger, with page buttons) Libra H2O is $200.
No way I'll be joining the Kindle ecosystem at this point, but it'll be interesting to see how Kobo responds... |

This is my interest too. Kobo has staked its own USP with the Elipsa, going where Kindle has not, but now it has a new challenge to meet in the core reader market, as opposed to the notetaker niche. A "fixed" Forma with a SD card capacity (making onboard storage size less relevant) would be a great reply imo.
