I believe both copies that were available online are not legal. I was quite excited about it so I hunted around to check on the legality, but apparently translations are copyrighted separately.
This would mean that the Pevear and Volokhonsky translation was published in 1997. The version translated by Hugh Aplin was published in 2008. I'm not an expert in these things so I could be misunderstanding, but that is what I've found. EDIT: Ooops - someone beat me to it. |

Hence the "Make of it what you will" clause.
I prefer to let people do they're own research, but I would tend to agree with the opinions of jgaiser and caleb72 on their legality (and fantasyfan on their usefulness). |

Hmm...? The Kindle version is only $8.69 which is cheaper than I can find for even a used paper edition. Just picked up the Kindle version myself.

Is it terrible that I want to change my vote to Master and the Margarita? I would still like to read On the Beach which was my original vote, but I'm now leaning towards the other.

I don't think its terrible at all, I think that's exactly what the book clubs are about. I voted for A Question Of Upbringing because it sounds interesting and I already have it, but I am now interested in reading The Master And Margarita. I hope I can comfortably take part in both book clubs.
