I agree, but I assure you I was watching the eReader turned on on the table, without any vibration or anything hitting it, when it suddenly became like that :| I was shocked! I thought you need some kind of hit, but it was there...still! :|

Th shock can be much older than the crack.. Glass is really a strange material that can absorb shock without breaking, and one day, just due to a temperature change, a co(s)mical ray or anything else, broke...
For the french people who are here, just remember the "Carglass" ad ;-) |

I just dropped my cybook and lost half screen...Those glass displays are too fragile. My next one will be a plastic eink: the asus dr-900 looks like a good candidate!.

well, coincidently, my screen broke last night. no mystery - i dropped my ereader on the floor. i've just searched through and can't find the answer to these questions earlier then '07:
can the screen be replaced? is it going to cost as much as a reader? (as i had read somewhere on here) do i HAVE to go to the sony store to do this? p.s. i'm devastated. i've become super addicted to my baby. half the screen is unreadable. agh. just realized i'm in the cybook forum! oh, well. if you've got an answer, i'd still love it. Anyway, since the screen is the same, it should basically provide the same answer:
The screen has to be changed by the manufacturer, and should cost around € 100-120 plus postage from what I have heard. |
