Have you tried using a different cable? USB cable problems are not uncommon.

The screen on my reader shows what it normally would though-the little USB icon thingy with the arrow above it and on the bottom it says "USB connected".

Hi,
I had the same issue with my toshiba laptop...It's not your reader nor a virus or something like that. I had solved my problem with a system bios upgrade. I suggest you to look for it at the dell website, where you can download the sotware utilities. Hope this will solve your problem. bye |

Try a soft reset on your reader. Trust me it'll work! I had the "usb not recognized error" and that solved it

Soft reset...push the button on the bottom of the reader and then...

Yaaayyyy! I think it worked! At least, that message stopped coming up and it's acting like it normally would. Hopefully it will be fixed on my computer too! Thank you, and I will let you know what happens at home tonite. I get off in approx 6 hours. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

It did work on my home computer! What do you think caused it? Whew, thanks tho! I just had my computer fixed, I wasn't trying to send it out again.

hmm no idea what causes it lol. I think is like when your computer starts acting funny you just have to restart. Glad to hear it worked!
