I tried quite a few converters myself and I adopted PDFCreator.
It created the smallest files of all the converters I tried. For example, the "Save as PDF" function of office 2007 created files 2x as big with no difference in quality. |

I have used Bullzip PDF Printer, is the best PDF printer, You can merge PDF files.
