How about Goodnight Irene by the Weavers. (And yes, I do have a copy of the song although I did not know that it was #1 on that day until now.)

Marc -- now you've got me listening repeatedly to "Summertime" by Mungo Jerry. Love that song! |

I remember the first song I heard when I was born. My mom sang it. I really do not remember any of the lyrics, but there was a lot of screaming going on. I also remember the song I heard the day I was conceived, again I do not remember the lyrics, but there was a lot of moaning going on.

There were choirs of angels singing "Hallelujah" on the day I was born. Then the head nurse stepped up, said, "Leave this one alone." She could tell right away I was bad to the bone. Last edited by DixieGal; 09-02-2008 at 03:25 PM. Reason: ...buh-buh-buh ba-ad.... |

That list at the website is kind of neat. Although I recognized neither my song nor singer, I saw some songs that I want to download. Oh, and also Nate's Tragedy, which is sort of spooky in its accuracy....

Mine was "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" by Bill Hayes.
I never did get one of those coonskin caps but I remember most of the lyrics to the song. "Disco Lady" by Johnnie Taylor was the #1 song when I turned 21. (Shake it up, shake it down, Move it in, move it round, Disco lady. Move it in, move it out, Move in and about, Disco lady.) |

I've always liked the harmonies in this song... (singing it over and over in my head ) |

"I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor
lol, I had no idea. lol x2, considering that my birth was a miracle (all my other would-be younger and older brothers didn't manage to be born, to my mother's despair). That makes me a survivor. |
