@byzkarl: Did you restart/reboot your Kindle after editing FONT_RAMP file?

@topquark: Will what work on K3?
1) FONT_RAMP thing >>> No, it's firmware 5.x.x series only. 2) Reducing left and right margin >>> IIRC it's easier to do that on K3 than on any newer Kindle (you edit a value in /system/reader.pref file that is just a plain text file and accessible without needing the jailbreak 3) Changing those 8 predefined font sizes in Aa menu: Possible with jailbreak by editing different set of jar files. See this post for hack/solution for 2) and 3): https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=137 You should probably read at least last couple of pages of that thread, focusing on posts by @ihor. And also read the included "readme"/instruction to check which firmware build for Kindle 3 are supported and tested. Especially now that Kindle 3 recently got some small update (for March 22 server side changes) to be able to continue using Kindle Store and stuff... because there is possibility that those jar files that hack uses were replaced and/or java code was re-obfuscated. Having working SSH setup (USBNetworking) and some basic knowledge of Linux terminal command would be nice, in case you just go ahead with installing the hack and as result Kindle gets soft-bricked you could manually delete modified jar files... that should fix things. |

@kleinjar: AFAIK, it's still doable manually. The instructions are still mostly accurate for everything pertaining to margins, it's the font size stuff which changed significantly.
EDIT: Said instructions are from @kaznelson, somewhere after his attachment in the JBPatch thread. I vaguely remember someone putting all of it together in a new thread recently-ish, but I might have dreamed that . Last edited by NiLuJe; 07-07-2016 at 01:30 PM. |

The font size doesn't work in 5.8.3 Or did I do it wrongly?

Probably too recent a firmware version.
Please mention your device model by our name for it (there are 3 or more 'Kindle Basic' devices). Does FONT_RAMP still work in that firmware version? (FONT_RAMP: ^^ read up ^^) |

No word (yet) on if they have enabled the "CONTENT_FONT_RAMP" feature. |

1 inch is 25.4mm, so, 1pt is 25.4 / 72 = 0.352778mm To translate the sizes in pixels (px) for Kindle Oasis (or Voyage) with 300dpi screens, calculation would be something like this: Smallest font: 7.13 * 300 / 72 = 29.7 px Default (4th) font: 9.17 * 300 / 72 = 38.2 px Biggest font: 29.2 * 300 / 72 = 125.14 px In millimeters this would be for the biggest font: 29.2 * 0.352778 = 10.23mm |
