Band 2 der Lewis-Trilogie, der mir wieder gut gefallen hat. Peter May ist ein Autor, der sich sehr stark auf seine Figuren konzentriert, was mir sehr gut gefällt. Die Art, wie er den Mordfall in vielen Rückblenden aufrollt, ist vermutlich nicht jedermanns Sache, aber etwas, das ich an seinen Büchern mag. Hier war es vielleicht nicht ganz glücklich, das Hörbuch zu hören, da ich es schwieriger fand als bei The Black House, den Faden nicht zu verlieren. Am Sprecher lag es definitiv nicht, Peter Forbes' Stimme passt sehr gut zu diesen schottischen Geschichten. Ich höre im Original und hoffe für die deutschen Leser, dass der Grammatikfehler im Klappentext (siehe oben) nicht wirklich auf ein schlampiges Lektorat der deutschen Ausgabe hindeutet. Wer immer diesen Text verbrochen hat, er darf ihn behalten, ich hab nur zitiert. |

Heute werde ich mich mal mit den zwei ausstehenden Rezensionen beschäftigen. Dazu dann gleich.
Ich hätte aber noch die Frage an Marrella, ob wir die nächste Runde der Marrella/hamlok-Challenge starten wollen, dann würde ich noch etwas raussuchen? |

Wie wir an dem etwas zu aufgekratzen Klappentext herauslesen können handelt es sich um Jugendfantasy, die aber nach meiner Auffassung gut von Erwachsenen gelesen werden kann. Teil Auch der zweite Teil, diesmal kein re-read, hat mir genauso große Freude bereitet. Es ist einfach ein unterhaltsamer Spaß, der von den Alltagsproblemen ablenkt, ich brauche das momentan einfach. Ok, ich hatte wirklich die besten Vorsätze, diese SuB-Leiche endlich zu lesen, habe mich nun jedoch entschlossen, es abzubrechen. Weder das Buch, von dem ich 118 Seiten geschafft habe, noch das (gekürzte) Hörbuch animieren mich zum Weiterlesen bzw. Weiterhören. Von dem Hörbuch, das um ca. die Hälfte gekürzt ist, habe ich die Hälfte (4 von 8 CDs) gehört und fühle mich leider nur gelangweilt, um nicht zu sagen, stark angeödet. Der Anfang war ja noch ganz nett, der Drache ist cool, aber das wars dann auch. Irgendwie habe ich den Eindruck, es wird sich nur noch geprügelt und ich weiß nicht so recht, wer mit wem und warum eigentlich. Das mag aber auch daran liegen, dass ich zum Schluss nur noch unaufmerksam zugehört habe, weil mich die ganze Sache so sehr gelangweilt hat. Der Sprecher des Hörbuchs ist nicht schlecht, konnte mich jedoch nicht animieren, bis zum Schluss durchzuhalten. Diese Reihe ist anscheinend einfach nichts für mich. Punkte-Challenge: Zukunftsvisionen
Neal Shusterman: Thunderhead (Arc of a Scythe #2) - Fantasy, 4.5 Sterne Weil man über den Inhalt dieses 2. Bandes kaum etwas sagen kann, ohne zu verraten, wie Band 1 endet, verzichte ich auf eine Inhaltsangabe. Mir hat dieses Buch tatsächlich genauso gut gefallen wie das erste der Reihe, obwohl es sich dabei (vermutlich) um den Mittelband einer Trilogie handelt, die erfahrungsgemäß oft etwas schwächer sind als der Auftakt. Inzwischen würde ich Neal Shusterman, von dem ich vorher noch nie etwas gelesen hatte, obwohl er anscheinend bereits ein recht umfangreiches Werk vorzuweisen hat, als meine ganz persönliche Entdeckung des Jahres bezeichnen. Natürlich haben wir noch fünf Monate vor uns und ich hoffe, dass ich noch einige gute Autoren und Bücher entdecken werde. Ich bin schon sehr gespannt auf Band 3, der diesen Herbst erscheinen soll. Die Welt der Zukunft, die der Autor hier erschaffen hat, hat durchaus etwas Reales an sich, mehr als Dystopien wie die Tribute von Panem, die mir auch gut gefallen haben. Wobei ich dennoch hoffe, dass wir andere, etwas humanere Lösungen finden würden, um dem Problem der Überbevölkerung beizukommen. Für die Challenge bekomme ich 504 Punkte. |

Rereads-Challenge
Punkte-Challenge: Die Psyche Brandon Sanderson: Legion - Fantasy, 4/5 Stephen Leeds, der Protagonist dieser Novelle ist eine multiple Persönlichkeit, und dies im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Das Besondere daran ist, dass alle Persönlichkeiten seiner selbst, die er halluziniert, eine eigene Persönlichkeit haben und selbstständig handeln und ihm helfen können. In dieser Geschichte geht es darum, den Erfinder einer Kamera mit ganz speziellen Eigenschaften zu finden, der spurlos verschwunden ist. Diese verrückte Idee fand ich sehr vergnüglich, die Art, wie Sanderson aus den Halluzinationen des Ermittlers etwas Positives und Nützliches gemacht hat, war durchaus ungewöhnlich und - zumindest für mich - neu, jedenfalls als ich das Buch zum ersten Mal gelesen bzw. gehört habe. Es macht mich neugierig auf die anderen Bücher, die dieser doch sehr bekannte Autor geschrieben hat. Für die Challenge bekomme ich 88 Punkte. |

Ich habe noch den 2. Teil von Legion als Hörbuch auf Halde, außerdem The Rithmatist, was auch ganz interessant klingt. Beide sollte ich wohl nach ganz oben auf den SuB schieben, wie es aussieht.
