Oh, horrors! I have to connect my Sage to charge more often than most of my ereader collection. I think of it as giving my Sage something to do while I sleep for an hour.

The optimism of my last post has been squashed. The One never advanced past about a 15% charge then degraded as the evening wore on.

My Sage is my favourite. Temped to buy another soon, will do so if any rumour of it being "replaced" by something inferior. |

Have you considered buying a replacement battery instead of a new device? You may yet be able to resurrect your Aura if you're willing to open it.

Replacement Battery?

There is no obvious seam to separate insert a micro usb port either, I think the danger would be ruining the screen just trying to take it apart. Last edited by beespeckled; 08-27-2024 at 09:12 PM. Reason: added information |

Spent the Bday Gift Card, new reader should arrive today.
Quote:
I have had glitchy experience with the Oasis 3 night before last so that added some anxiety. Luckily that issue seemed to resolve. Splurged the birthday gift card on a new reader last night. Will be delivered sometime today. I'm keeping my expectations low w/the glass half full since I know I will like the overall interface w/the new Kobo vs the Oasis. What did I get? Libra Colour. I was strongly leaning towards the Sage as on paper it seemed pretty close to the Aura One with some extra bells & whistles. I was considering a refurbished, but it was the same price as a new Libra Colour. Gift cards made the LC affordable, realize it will be a different experience. Thank you to everyone who responded. |

Even with the Kindle O3 I have to bump the light up 10% with daylight reading in an unevenly lighted room. I did a quick comparison between the 2, and I'd say with both lights off, the kindle background is 2 shades lighter. I called a local computer/device repair place today to see if it was worth replacing the Micro USB port: $80 an hour and most likely soldering involved so they didn't recommend fooling with it. |

I keep my light on very low and haven’t had any issues with my KLC. It’s plenty bright! My Kobo Mini has no backlight. I carry it with me on hikes and such, but when things get too dark to read on my Mini, the Kobo clipon light doesn’t hold a candle to backlighting. Just for the record, I charge my KLC every two weeks or so. It’s got great battery life even with backlighting. Even if I had to charge it more frequently, I’m already used to charging my iPad and iPhone daily, so charging an ereader more frequently would not ruin my day. |
