Kobo Libra design big and old fashion

I've had many ereaders over the years. I had a mobile phone when it was analogue. I had an Apple II and an actual IBM AT. I also had an early smartphone, a Nokia N9210i (though smartphones had existed for 4 years). I've a Palm Z22.

There is nothing old looking (not that old looking in itself is bad), nor too bulky about any of the three 3 Libra models, though I'd not want the Colour one using a Kaleido 3 screen.

The cult of thinness maybe made sense in 2000, when the Dell Inspiron 7500 was new (heavy and very bulky), but now fatter with a bigger battery makes sense, but instead laptops so thin they need a bag of dongles due to having only USB-C.

I've a Libra and a Libra 2 as well as almost brand new phones and tablets and a portable QHD screen.

I can't recognise your complaint of the Libra. Have you mixed it up with a 1990s tablet computer running Windows for Pen Computing (based on Windows 3.1)?

I don't know why OP is so intent on pushing their opinion on everybody else. Thank heavens we don't all have to think alike and value the same things. For ME the Libra 2 (not color) is pretty much ideal! I DO appreciate 7" over 6"! I DO appreciate the buttons! I DO appreciate the device being big enough to hold conveniently! I DO NOT need to fit it in a pocket. But that is ME! If it's not for you, just don't buy it! No need to try to convince anyone apart from yourself!

I'd never keep a phone in a jeans pocket. I know someone that did and twice they have broke the screen acidently walking into a bollard, but the main reason is that phones are now too big.

I think choice is good and sadly due to Eink Corp virtual monopoly there is poor choice of screen sizes and with phones there is too much dominance of "fashion" and the different ones are either dumb phones or horribly expensive. My favourite phone was the N9210i, but I had to give it back when made redundant.

I agree with everything except the buttons. I'm of the opinion that we don't need the buttons. If we didn't have buttons, the Libra 2 could be symmetrical.

Even if I had a large enough pocket to fit my Libra 2, I'd never do so. A Reader is a pocket is a Reader waiting to break and it's going to be uncomfortable as well.

I have one and it's great. I can see some maybe wanting the bezel to be wider on the left/right sized and that might work if it's not too wide.

As I result I choose the Clara and for something ad an arounder and get books from anywhere, going to go for the Boox go 7. Much more ompact and best of all up to 1tb storage using SD card

What about a symmetrical reader, but with a choice of plug-ins, like the controllers on a Nintendo Switch? Cabled when docked and able to mate and be a BT remote?

There could also be a landscape mode keyboard dock/charger.

Nokia once made money selling phone backs.

I like the idea of a new 7" Libra BW with a symmetrical design and no buttons but with a BT page turner for those who do want buttons.

I used my Aura H2O for (I think) 6 years. I have no problem with the symmetrical button-less design.

If we don't have such a wide bezel, where would you feel would be a good place to put buttons so they would not be in the way for anyone not using them?
