Telegram bot for converting fb2 to Kindle
I made a telegram bot for converting and sending books from fb2 format to Kindle.
Very convenient - you just need to send an fb2 file to the bot and it flies to the Kindle. The bot accepts a .fb2 or fb2.zip file as input, converts it to epub, and sends it to the e-mail Kindle. You need to set your mail with the /email mail@kindle.com command. There is a telegram limit on the file size - 20Mb. Converting using fb2converter. I made the conversion settings for myself, for the Kindle PW3 device. Configs are available on GitHub. Features:
In order for the bot to work with your device, you need to add the bot's e-mail to your Amazon account. Manage Your Content & Devices > Preferences > Personal Document Settings > Approved Personal Document E-mail List The bot gives a short help on how to do this with the /start command. Criticism and suggestions are welcome. Bot address: @fb2kindle_bot Sources: here |

What's fb2 and why use that format? Never seen a fb2 file anywhere, in any store I've bought from or on any free site either.

It is an XML-based semantic markup format with useful metadata.

This is to convert downloaded eBooks from another country that uses FB2. It's so the pirated eBooks can be read on a Kindle. It's that simple.

fb2 was a very popular format in Spain ages ago. I remember that there was a freeware, Russian powerful editor (running under Windows) that made easy make changes in fb2 pirated ebooks (= scanned & OCRed books). Now is all history (almost).

The successor to fb2 was fb3 which was loosely based on the OPC (Open Platform Communications) standard. It never seemed to gain any traction since unlike ePub2/ePub3, fb2 and fb3 did not ever share a common file structure and ebook pirates stuck with fb2.
